1. The International Reality: The PayPal Restriction
Globally, PayPal is the undisputed standard for freelance payments. However, Jamaican digital workers face a severe geographical limitation enforced by the platform: standard Jamaican PayPal accounts possess the ability to send payments globally, but face severe, systemic restrictions on withdrawing received funds to local domestic bank accounts.
Attempting to use a standard Jamaican PayPal account to receive high volumes of USD from foreign clients will inevitably result in trapped capital. You cannot simply link a local JMD Scotiabank or NCB savings account to a Jamaican PayPal account and hit "withdraw."
Warning
Do not attempt to use VPNs or fake US addresses to create a US PayPal account. When the platform inevitably requests ID verification or an SSN/ITIN to release your funds, your money will be permanently frozen.
